How to Change Battery in Keyless Door Lock?

Batteries are used in keyless door locks to operate the locking mechanism and store the key codes. While many locks only require one set of batteries, some locks require two sets. An indication light on the lock flashes when the batteries are running low and need to be changed. A keyless door lock does not need to be recoded in order to change the battery. The lock has memory, which preserves the code even when the batteries are changed.

How to change battery in keyless door lock:

• Remove the screws holding the lock's cartridge in place.

Remove the screws holding the cover that protects the lock's inside in place with a screwdriver. After removing the screws, pull the cover away from the lock by grabbing its sides.

The screws holding the battery cartridge lid on must also be removed. One square can be seen on some battery covers whereas two can be found on others.

• Replace the outdated batteries with fresh ones

While some keyless entry home door locks use AAA batteries, more modern locks use a 9-volt battery. If your lock uses AAA batteries, take them out and put fresh ones in.

However, carefully remove the 9-volt battery from the compartment and unplug it from the wire cap if the lock has one.

• Put the battery cover back

Put the battery cover back in place where it belongs. Put back the screws to secure the batteries using a screwdriver.

Apply the same technique to the lock's cover.

Try to see if your lock is already operational. If not, make sure the batteries are correctly positioned inside the container. Make sure your lock and the fresh batteries you're using are compatible.
