Summary
Start with precise measurements of width, depth, and ceiling height, then sketch your layout, hanging rails up top, shelves above, drawers below for clothes. Build a plywood plinth base screwed over skirting, add vertical battens for support, and level it perfectly. Frame with tight plywood panels marked for wall curves, topped neatly, and split with a middle board. Install internals like 1-inch plywood on cleats, metal rods, soft-close drawers, and hinged doors. Finish with laminated or painted MDF doors, mirrors, and LED strips for that wow factor.

Hey, I have a method which will help you with how to build a fitted wardrobe in an alcove. We recently got a wardrobe built in an alcove in a bedroom. So here is the process we followed:

Steps to Build a Wardrobe in an Alcove

  1. Measurement: Begin by measuring your alcove precisely with width, depth and the height to the ceiling.

  2. Sketch Layout: After this, make a plan for the layout, hanging rail at what position, shelves above, drawers below for clothes and seasonal stuff.

  3. Build Base: First, build the base of the wardrobe. Cut BWP plywood plinth, screw into the floor over the skirting. Then, add vertical battens to the back or side walls for support and use a spirit level to level everything.

  4. Frame Sides: Cut plywood panels to fit tightly in place, and use a pencil to mark wall curves on the edges. Screw panels into the wooden supports. Put a top board to close it neatly. Add a middle board to split into sections.

  5. Install internals: crew 1-inch plywood boards onto metal cleats. Add metal hanging rods and use soft close drawer slides. Also, attach hinges for doors if space allows.

  6. Finish: Laminate or paint MDF doors and add mirrors. You can add LED strips inside for an aesthetic look.

So this is the complete process you have to follow. I hope this will help.
