. I have used naphthalene balls, which are also known as mothballs to prevent cockroaches in my house. I would say that they work quite well and you should give them a try. 

How does Naphthalene Balls Keep Cockroaches Away?

The naphthalene balls are tiny white spherical balls that help in keeping pests away. These balls release a vapour called naphthalene vapour that prevents pests like cockroaches and protects our stored items. 

When you place these balls, they get exposed to air and slowly undergo sublimation. By this, I mean that they convert from being a solid to a gas without melting. Due to this sublimation, naphthalene is released into the house environment. 

Once naphthalene is released, an odour spreads all around that repels the cockroaches. 

Because of this odour, the cockroach’s pheromones are trapped, making them unable to communicate. This doesn’t let them navigate through the space and find sources of food.
