Each day I see news about crimes and acts of violence. It makes me feel unsafe and worried about my family and friends. Many times, these crimes are committed yet there is no solid proof. I will share with you details on apartment security camera laws in India. You can get a security guard, CCTV camera, or a dog as a precaution. 

In short, yes you can. As long as members of the family don't have a problem with a camera. From what I know there are no specific laws regarding installing residential CCTV cameras in the law. There is no clarity about the format of the file and length of video that can be used as evidence from CCTV camera footage.

Can I install a security camera outside my apartment?

Yes, you can. Though the presence and recording of security cameras shouldn't infringe on the rights of the people. Everyone has a right to expect privacy as well. Just make sure, the angle of the camera does not record anyone’s private property. Point the camera on the yard, roads, and alleyways instead.
