About Kamla Nagar

Kamla Nagar is a residential locality in Dharavi and is part of the Mumbai Metropolitan region. It is located close to several larger areas of the city, such as Bandra East, Mahim, Matunga West, and Matunga East. Kamla Nagar Mumbai is well-connected to almost all parts of the city via well-maintained roads and railways. The Kamla Nagar pin code is 400017.

Kamla Nagar is a part of Dharavi, which used to be the abode of the Koli fishing community hundreds of years ago. The Mahim Creek was their main fishing grounds. Later, with urban development reaching even the northernmost tip of Mumbai, the area turned into a residential locality. There are also plenty of commercial establishments in the area, which is to be expected with a locality this big.

Dharavi, and in turn, Kamla Nagar, is home to people from all over India, as the Kamla Nagar map will show you. With a mix of cultures, religions, and faiths, this area is still one of the most peaceful in the city. Plenty of places of worship stand shoulder to shoulder, serving the multicultural population of Kamla Nagar. The people here are mostly self-employed, with a lot of salaried individuals and some small business owners as well. Some localities are also home to large business owners and landlords.

I inherited a flat here. The area retains its old charm, but the resale market is slow due to newer townships coming up nearby with better amenities.

Kamla Nagar is close to my kid’s school and hospital, which is a plus. But drainage during rains is poor, and we face frequent waterlogging issues

Parking is a daily struggle. I own two cars and have to park one on the street—adds stress despite an otherwise good living experience.

Moved here last year. Local eateries are excellent and cheap. However, dust and pollution levels are higher compared to my previous locality in Navi Mumbai.

The neighbourhood is close-knit and cooperative. We celebrate festivals together. But street vendors block walkways often, making daily errands annoying.

Moved from Thane for work. Kamla Nagar is closer to my office, but the lack of malls or big grocery stores is a minor drawback.

Whats good about Kamla Nagar

  • A safe enough region for children and women

What can be improved about Kamla Nagar
