Hulimavu Bangalore was previously known as Amarapura under the administration of Saarakeya (present day: Sarakki). The name Amarapura came from the word "Amra'' or "Amru," which means Mango or "Sourness'' in Kannada. Over the years, the name evolved to its present name, Hulimavu, which means "Sour mango" in Kannada. In the 17th century, the then-ruler of Saarakeya built the Kodandarama Swamy Temple in Hulimavu for the well-being of its citizens. Around 1600 AD, the Kodandarama Swamy Temple was renovated with the installation of idols of Seeta, Lakshmana, and Anjenaya Swamy. The Sri Kodandarama Swamy Brahmotsavam festival is celebrated at the temple every year.

I bought 2 BHK property here in 2021, and the price have appreciated by 18% over the years. Area is growing rapidly as it has good connectivity to some key areas in Bangalore like Bannerghatta and HSR. Recreational spots are nearby too for tourists.

I bought 2 BHK property here in 2021, and the price have appreciated by 18% over the years. Area is growing rapidly as it has good connectivity to some key areas in Bangalore like Bannerghatta and HSR. Recreational spots are nearby too for tourists.

I found budget rooms near AECS Maruti Magnolia School and they're very wallet-friendly. I take the Yelachenahalli Metro to my college campus. Construction noise can be distracting during study hours but overall, a good locality for a low-key lifestyle.

It's close to several recreational spots in Bannerghatta. The national park and Iskon temple is also nearby which I often visit with my partner. The area is a bit away from the commotion, and has a peaceful ambience. Rent is cheap too.

I drove down to Hulimavu Lake last weekend in the morning, and loved the place. The streets are quiet and breezy. Good tourist place. not many food options nearby though.

I went to Sri Ramalingeshwara Temple here with my cousins, and was impressed by the rock carvings. The roads are quite narrow and felt congested. Otherwise, a good area with easy accessibility via metro
