Hello. To answer, will ceramic tile stick to plywood? The answer is yes, it will. You can use some products for this purpose, like thin-set dry-set mortar. This is designed specifically for adhering ceramic tile to plywood. Apart from this, you can also use silicone or urethane adhesives, but the thin-set mortars are preferred as they are easier to work with. Another reason is the ease of getting full adhesive contact between the tile and its substrate.

I also have a separate method you can use to stick ceramic tile to plywood. I will share that below.

How to Stick Ceramic Tiles to Plywood?

Here is the method you can follow:

  1. You can combine a sealing substrate with a flexible adhesive.

  2. Apply a latex-based bonding solution or primer to the plywood with a flexible cement-based adhesive and flexible grout. Use the powdered, bagged ones and not the premixed tubs.

  3. You can choose to install a cement blackboard or an underlayment membrane on a plywood subfloor. The blackboard is pretty useful to prevent flexing and cracking.

This is all I have to say about sticking ceramic tiles to plywood. I hope the information will turn out to be helpful.
