Summary
Your BSES electricity bill may be high due to increased usage of appliances like ACs or geysers, especially in summer. Higher consumption can push you into costlier tariff slabs. Additional charges like PPAC, loss of subsidies, estimated billing, or past dues can also raise the amount. To verify, compare units used, check the meter reading, review extra charges, and confirm if the bill is actual or estimated. Contact BSES if anything seems incorrect.

Here is how to check if your BSES electricity bill is high and what to do next:

  1. First, compare the number of units used this month with last month.

  2. Next, check your meter and match the reading to the bill to make sure it is correct.

  3. Then check for any extra charges, such as PPAC or taxes, listed on the bill. Also, see if the bill is estimated or actual.

  4. If you notice any mistakes or something unusual, contact BSES customer care immediately and report the issue.

I hope you now have a clear understanding of why your BSES bill is getting high.

Here is why is my BSES bill so high this month:

  1. First, you may use more electricity this month. When you run ACs, coolers, or geysers for many hours, they consume a lot of power. In summer, people use ACs more, so the bill increases quickly.

  2. BSES charges electricity based on slabs. If you use more units, you move to a higher slab. In higher slabs, electricity costs more per unit. So, even a small increase in usage can make your bill much higher.

  3. BSES adds extra charges like PPAC (fuel surcharge). When fuel prices increase, BSES increases this charge. You may pay more even if your usage stays the same.

  4. You may not get the subsidy this month. The Delhi government offers electricity discounts, but you must stay within certain limits. If your usage exceeds the limit or you are not eligible, your bill will be higher.

  5. BSES may send an estimated bill. If they do not take the meter reading, they guess your usage. Next month, they will adjust the bill, and you may see a sudden increase.

  6. BSES may add previous unpaid or undercharged units to your current bill. This makes your bill look very high.

  7. There may be a meter or reading problem. Sometimes the meter shows wrong units or the reading is incorrect.

Can anyone here tell me what to do if my BSES bill is higher than usual?
