I belong to a family where our morning starts with a ritual prayer to God With all our family members present for it. Everyone in my family is a staunch believer in massive shastra. It was my grandmother who used to teach us about vastu principles. So, if you ask me which direction to face while praying, I would say that according to Vasu Shastra and as per what my grandmother has taught me over the years we should face towards the east or the north direction while praying. You can say that the east direction is the best direction for offering prayers to God. This is because the east direction is associated with the symbol of bravery and strength.

The east direction is also set to be good for attaining knowledge if you sit with your back toward the West direction. If you pray in this direction it is said that it infuses power within us which helps us achieve our goals in a better way.

She did mention that the east and north would be the ideal choice for praying. But she warned us against the southwest direction the most.
