Last month, I visited various projects and spoke to the site teams to ask some basic questions about construction and the materials being used. These questions gave me a better idea of how carefully the project was being built. The first thing I asked was about the materials used for the building. I asked the site team about the cement, steel, bricks, tiles, flooring, doors, and windows being used. I also asked which brands they were using and whether these details were mentioned in the project specifications.
What Construction Method is Being Used for the Building?
I asked how the main structure of the building was designed and what type of construction method was being followed.
I wanted to know about the quality checks done during construction. You can ask whether the developer carries out regular inspections and tests for concrete and other important materials.
I also asked about waterproofing in bathrooms, balconies, terraces, and other wet areas.
Poor waterproofing can create problems later. I asked how they test the plumbing and drainage systems before handing over the apartment.
Finally, I did not depend only on the answers given by the sales team. I also looked at the actual construction work, walls, flooring, common areas, and finishing.
Asking these questions and checking the site personally can give you a much better idea of the building quality before making a decision. I hope you now know what to ask the site team to gauge the build quality of a property before making your purchase decision.
