What is the difference between a built-up area vs a carpet area?

Most of you must be aware that a built-up area and a carpet area are found in the terminology used in real estate. Let’s check out the main differences between these two:

• Carpet Area:

  It refers to the actual area where a carpet can be placed. It ignores the walls and other inaccessible regions and concentrates only on the useable space that can accommodate furniture or other items.

• Built-Up Area:

  The built-up area of a building is determined by the external perimeter wall surfaces. It consists of the carpet surface plus the thickness of the walls and other undesirable areas within the flat, such as the dry balcony, terrace, flower gardens, and so on.
