Transferring a BESCOM electricity connection to your name after buying or inheriting a property in Bangalore involves a clear, structured procedure that ensures billing and legal records reflect the current owner. This can be done online or offline, but physical document verification at a BESCOM Sub-Division Office is often necessary. Before looking into the step-by-step BESCOM ownership transfer procedure, gather all essential documents. These typically include:

  1. Sale deed or proof of transfer,

  2. Latest paid BESCOM electricity bill,

  3. NOC from the previous owner or builder,

  4. Khata certificate or property tax receipt in your name,

  5. Photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, etc.),

  6. Power Supply Agreement and Indemnity Bond on stamp paper, and

  7. Meter photo showing the RR number and reading.

How do I Transfer Ownership of a BESCOM Account?

  1. You can start the process via the BESCOM Online Services portal, registering with your consumer number or RR number and uploading documents. However, most applications still require you to visit your local BESCOM Sub-Divisional Office to submit originals for verification.

  2. At the BESCOM office or portal, fill out the ownership transfer form (often called Form 13).

  3. Provide details such as the property address, RR number, meter details, and reason for transfer (sale, inheritance, etc.).

  4. Submit all supporting documents and pay the required transfer fees (typically Rs 100 for Low Tension connections and Rs 500 for High Tension), plus charges for the Power Supply Agreement and Indemnity Bond on stamp papers.

  5. A Junior Engineer (JE) will verify the meter, documents, and application. This verification may take 7 to 15 days, depending on workload and completeness of documentation.

  6. Finally, you will receive a Service Request (SR) number or Guarantee of Services to Citizens (GSC) number to track progress online.

Once approved, the new owner’s name appears on the next electricity bill cycle, typically within 15 to 30 days. This is all about how to transfer the BESCOM electric bill to new owner.
