In simple words if I tell you, plumbing is setting up a fixture of pipes to transfer and transport water and wastewater from one place to another. And if you ask me

what does a plumber do, I would say plumbers are the people who are completely responsible for the installation of these pipes. They are additionally responsible for the repair and maintenance of these pipes too. I will explain a little more about what plumbers do in my answer here.

What do plumbers do?

• The primary responsibility of plumbers is installing and repairing the water pipes, toilets, sinks, faucets, and all other fixtures that are related to plumbing.

• They also unclog sewers and drains.

• They also install and repair gas lines.

• They are also responsible for inspecting the plumbing fixtures to make sure that they are running properly.

I would say that a plumber plays a vital role in helping us keep our home running smoothly.

some specific examples of tasks that plumbers perform.

• If you want to install a new water heater, plumbers can do it for you. They can install every kind of water heater.

• If you have a leaky faucet in your bathroom, kitchen or anywhere, they can fix it for you.

• If your drain is clogged, you can call a plumber to unclog it using proper tools like plungers, drain snakes, and hydro-jetting

• If your water pipes are broken, plumbers can fix that too.

Installation of anything seems very easy but the process associated, types, importance and more are also to be known to understand everything about it. The meaning of plumbing is very simple. It refers to the system of pipes and fittings that is installed in a building for the use and distribution of water. Without a proper plumbing system, it is very difficult to get water supply easily at home, especially for large buildings. The more rooms there are, the more difficult it becomes to supply water everywhere. As a child, it was intriguing for me to see water flowing from the tap whenever I turned it on but as I grew up, I realised the process is a tricky one.

The apparatus or system that helps in the distribution of water in a building is called plumbing. There are three types of plumbing system:

• Sanitary Drainage

• Stormwater Drainage

• Potable Water

There are 5 kinds of plumbing pipes which are as follows:

• Copper,

• Galvanised steel

• Polyvinyl chloride

• Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene

• Cross linked polyethylene

A poor plumbing system will cause a lot of issues. People will fail to get the proper flow of water and sometimes, if there is a mistake while connecting the pipelines with the apartments, a family can even fail to get any water which might cause a big trouble overall. So a good plumbing must focus upon several factors like:

• Make sure there are air gaps present

• Separation of pipes for respective apartments is a must

• Must follow the norms of the building

• Separate channels must be made for dirty and clean water

The word plumber has been derived from the Latin word “plumbum” which means liquid silver and denotes their lead pipes since the Romans used lead pipes then.
