Last year when the technician came to install our Voltas AC, he clearly said that we can clean the AC ourselves whenever we feel it is not blowing cold air properly. A few months back I witnessed such an issue hence before seeking an expert’s help, I did the voltas AC repair or cleaning myself. You just need to have the right materials handy and the rest can be handled.

Here is how you can repair your AC

  • Start disassembling the AC unit very carefully

  • Make sure you can access the exterior condenser of the AC

  • Remove all the dirt and dust from it

  • Next remove the AC filter using the screwdriver

  • Clean it with a brush gently

  • Use the brush and the soap solution for cleaning the fins of the condenser and evaporator units as well

Repairing an AC might seem like a tedious task, but trust me, it's not. I repair and clean my AC all the time. But before you do that, there are a few basic checks that you need to do for the AC repair Voltas.

Here is a list of things I always check before starting the repairing of my AC.

Voltas Air Conditioner Repair Checklist and Tips

  • The first step is always to check if the AC is plugged in or not.

  • Then I turn off the AC and check the Thermostat. I check the wiring supply and replace the batteries, ensuring that there is a power supply to the thermostat.

  • The next thing that I check is whether the thermostat is clean and faulty or not.

  • Following this, I check for circuit breakers and fuses. The AC won't work if any of them are not in place or are not functioning properly.

  • The thermostat setting may change, so it's better to check if it’s set to cooling or not.

  • Now, check the fan blower belt to understand if it's slacking, damaged, or broken or not.

  • Finally, I check if there is any dust or debris inside the  AC or not.

If there are any issues, I take the necessary action as mentioned by Meenakshi above to repair the AC. I hope you will also follow these steps for AC repair Voltas.

After almost two years, we got our Voltas AC serviced. It was not working properly and its cooling power had decreased to a great extent. We did not know the Voltas air conditioner repair process so we hired an expert without any delay.

What is Voltas Split AC Repair Process?

I had opted for NoBroker’s Voltas AC repair service as per one of my friend's recommendations and watched their expert repair our AC. Here are the steps he followed:

  • He started by ensuring that the AC is plugged into a functional power outlet and that there are no tripped circuit breakers.

  • He then checked if the remote control had working batteries

  • Dirty or clogged filters can affect the AC's efficiency, so he turned off the unit, located the filters, and cleaned the parts. This significantly improved the cooling performance.

  • He further checked if the thermostat was set to the desired temperature. If the AC is not cooling as expected, the thermostat might need calibration or replacement, but in our case, this was not the issue.

  • Outdoor condenser coils can accumulate dirt and debris, hindering heat exchange so to avoid that, he removed the visible debris and gently cleaned the coils using a soft brush.

Some other reasons he cited that usually affect the performance of an AC are:
  • Low refrigerant levels

  • Damaged or bent fan blades

  • Water leakage around the AC unit

  • Issue with the compressor

So these are some reasons why an AC fails to work properly. You can try solving it yourself or seek an expert’s aid if you feel so.
