A dirty coil can create foul smells. Hire a professional to clean it if necessary.

A clogged drain line can lead to musty odours. Use a mixture of vinegar and water to clear it.

Place odor-absorbing products near the intake, such as activated charcoal or baking soda.

You're likely smelling mould that's accumulating inside the unit and/or the ducts if you detect an odour in your home and have narrowed it down to your air conditioner. • The condensate pipe should be cleaned-

  A drain line can be found near the exterior unit, which is usually dripping water when the system is functioning. Sludge or coloured water may drain from the condensate line, and you'll need to flush it with a bleach and water solution.
