Hello. I saw you asking how to prevent AC water leakage while cleaning and can answer it. You have to start by turning off the AC power through the MCB. This is crucial to avoid any accidents and there will be no sudden fan blast spraying water everywhere. I will share the rest below.
Steps to Prevent AC Water Leak while Cleaning
Remove the water tray carefully. The indoor unit drain pan catches cleaning water. You should keep thick towels underneath first, then slowly slide the tray out. Tip dirty water into the bucket outside.
Then wrap painter’s tape over condensate drain outlets during coil cleaning. This will prevent spray cleaner from flooding pipes backwards.
Fill a plastic spray bottle with coil cleaner and water mix. You should then mist fins gently going from top to down. The water will flow naturally in the path to the tray.
After this, push a cotton rag or a sponge about 2 ft into the drain pipe before cleaning.
Keep thin wooden blocks like about 1 inch under the front feet temporarily. Water will then drain forward to the tray instead of dripping back onto the wall.
Wash the air filter in a bucket outside first. Dry completely before reinstalling. This has to be done because wet filters can cause instant leaks.
Wipe until dry, then reassemble and then you should run only the fan for about half an hour. If there are no leaks, that’s it, you’ve done it. Check the drain line flows freely outside.
I hope this helps.
