Hey there. I can tell you how to install linoleum flooring in kitchen. Well, the method involves quite a number of steps and you need to follow each of them for quality installation. Honestly, you will need people to help you out, as I see you are not seeking professional help. So, have at least one more person with you and go through the steps I have mentioned below:)

How to Lay Lino Flooring in Kitchen?

  1. Take a measuring tape and write down the room dimensions to know how much linoleum would be needed. Get 10 percent more than the actual measurements to account for wastage.

  2. Give about a day or two for the linoleum to adjust to your home’s environment. As linoleum can expand and contract a bit, it is crucial to let it settle a bit before you begin laying it down.

  3. Once you start laying the flooring, it will be important to leave an extra ¼ inch on each side to allow for expansion and contraction.

  4. Remove all the furniture, baseboards, appliances and other stuff before you install the flooring.

  5. You will require a hammer or a pry bar to remove the baseboards and a screwdriver to remove the doors.

  6. See, linoleum doesn’t always need an underlayment as it has a backing, but you will need to make sure your existing floor is level and doesn’t have any pocks or bumps.

  7. If you fail to repair a bump, you will notice it later and the linoleum can crack. So, use a level to ensure the floor is level before you continue.

  8. Measure twice and cut once, okay? But you cut, mark cut lines on the linoleum to avoid any mistakes. Use a measuring tape to ensure your lines are straight.

  9. Cut the linoleum with a utility knife or a jigsaw. If you’re using a utility knife, ensure to create a shallow groove to make the piece come off easily.

  10. Lay the flooring adhesive on the adhesive or existing floor with a notched trowel. Ensure you lay down a thin, uniform coat of flooring adhesive before placing the flooring.

  11. As you lay the flooring, remove extra flooring adhesive using a damp rag.

  12. After laying the linoleum flooring, you need to roll it with a floor roller. Apply the sealant between seams to prevent peeling or potential water damage.

  13. Don’t step on the floor for a day so that the adhesive can do its work with linoleum flooring. You can then bring in all the furniture and stuff after a day’s wait.

  14. Some areas of the room may require caulking as you put it back together. Pay attention to baseboards, toilets and other areas near appliances that use water.

This is all.
