Using the flat side of the trowel to key it in, apply a thin, uniform coating of mortar to the wall.
Next, comb it into uniform ridges using the notched side.
Smooth the ridges with the trowel's flat side.

Put a bead of silicone caulk that matches the colour in the corners and around the perimeter.
Once dry, finally buff with a microfiber cloth.
