The transporter can extend the validity period if the situation falls under ‘exceptional nature and trans-shipment’.

• The transporter will have to update the reason for the extension and other necessary details like current place, approximate distance to travel  in PART-B of FORM GST EWB-01. 

• The form is available before 8 hours and after 8 hours of expiry of the validity.  One needs to fill the form in the stipulated time range for it to be valid.

• Visit the e way portal 

• Next log in using your credentials

• Next select extend validity option under e-way bill

• Enter the e-way bill number

• Select Yes against the option- Do you wish to get an extension for this EWB?

• Provide the reason for it next

• Re-enter the distance, place of dispatch and place of delivery

• The extension of e way bill is done now.

What is the e way bill time extension?

E-way bill validity cannot be extended anytime you want. It can only be done 8 hours before the expiry date or 8 hours after the expiry date only.

How to extend expired E Way bill?

To extend the E-Way bill, one must log in to the official

portal. Input the reasons for the extension. Following completion, the service will automatically increase the e-Way bill's validity based on the distance travelled. 

Keep in mind that the new e-way bill number is assigned in place of the old one after the E Way bill validity extension is done. As of now, there are no limitations on how often one can extend the validity term.
