Hey, I applied for my passport a couple of months back and I asked the concerned person if I would be able to get a copy online. Unfortunately he responded negatively. I was informed that download passport online facility is not available as of now. We can apply for a passport after downloading the online application form from the official website of passport India but it is not possible to get a copy of your passport online. So to answer your question how to download passport online, you simply cannot.  How to download e passport? I heard in this year’s budget session that e passports are going to be a thing in the next few years. So maybe we should wait and watch how it is going to happen. As of now, you can apply online, pay the fee and after verification your passport will be sent to your registered address by the authorities.  Oh ya, the delivery man will expect you to tip him so please do that :P Nonetheless, this is my knowledge on how to download passport online. Hello, The mechanism for an e-passport download is not yet available. You can, however, upload scanned copies of your passport to Digilocker and download them as needed. For people going overseas for work, school, religious travel, tourism, commerce, medical care, or family visits, a passport is a requirement.  The last several years have seen an increase in demand for passports and related services as a result of the expanding global economy and globalisation. The Passport Seva Project (PSP), an initiative of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), was started in May 2010 in response to this rising demand. Simple, effective, and transparent processes are made possible by Passport Seva for the supply of passports and related services. For government employees, this initiative establishes a nationwide networked environment. It also connects with the State Police for the physical verification of the applicant's credentials and with India Post for passport delivery. However, till now there is no way for online passport download. Nevertheless, on the State Department website, you can review the passport information online. After the application or renewal process, they typically update the data 14 days later. I would like to conclude here about e-passport download. If you are wondering how to download my passport online, I can tell you from my experience that it is not possible to download a passport online. Instead, what I did is I uploaded the scanned copy of my passport to Digilocker so that I could download it as and when required. So, if you want to know how to download passport copy online, you can follow my method. You may already know about DigiLocker which is a platform provided by the Government of India where you can upload, store and download your documents anytime and anywhere and share them as and when required. 

How to download passport with passport number?

Since there is no online process for downloading your passport, I will explain the process of uploading your scanned passport copy on DigiLocker and the process of downloading it from there.
  1. Visit the DigiLocker platform at https://digilocker.gov.in/public/register.
  2. Then with the help of your Aadhaar number sign up on the platform.
  3. After signing up, you will see an upload icon where you can click to upload the scanned copy of your passport. You can locate your scanned passport copy from your device or drive and select ‘open’ to upload it on DigiLocker.
  4. Now, select the doc type of your file that is uploaded and then save the file.
  5. After uploading the file, you can download it anytime and anywhere.
