Hi all. I generally use nail paint remover to clean our switchboards and it works like magic, even better than baking soda. You can also try shaving cream. But cleaning an electrical appliance is very risky, so you have to be extra careful while handling them. Please wear safety gloves to prevent any mishap and switch off the main point of electricity. Let me tell you how to clean switch board carefully.

How to Clean Switch Board at Home?

Nail paint works really well for tough stains on your switchboards. The process is pretty simple. You just need to dip cotton in the liquid nail paint remover and wipe the surface of the board. You can repeat this process until you get it completely cleaned. I also used shaving cream once, and here’s how to clean the switch board with it.

  1. First, wipe the switchboard with a cloth to remove dust before you use any liquid.

  2. Now, apply the shaving cream on the switchboard and leave it for about a minute.

  3. With a toothbrush, rub the board for sometime, and after 2 minutes, wipe it with a cloth.

  4. You can then repeat this until the board is clean and then, clean it with a damp cloth.

That’s how I do it, and it works too. Just remember to apply the shaving cream on the upper side of the board, and not inside it.

I hope it helps. Let me know if it works for you.

While we take the time to wash our hands and phones, there are a few items we overlook, such as an electric switchboard. I thus clean my switchboards with vinegar and lemon juice once a month to keep them looking neat. Let me walk you through the easiest method, how to clean dirty switch boards.

Switchboard is something you might overlook when cleaning, but they ought to be at the top of your list. Electric switchboards are among the most often touched household items, and you can transfer germs with your hands. Hence, you should clean your switchboard on a regular basis.

To avoid any potential electrical problems as well as maintain a neat appearance of the entire house, I follow the below steps:

  • Initially, I cut off the power source to avoid any mishaps or electric shocks.

  • I then create a solution by combining one tablespoon (tbsp) of lemon juice and two tbsp vinegar with one cup of water.

  • After that, I use a toothbrush dipped in the solution and rub the switchboard.

  • Finally, I use a clean cloth to completely dry the area before turning the power on. This makes my electric switchboard shine instantly.

Switch board cleaning is a tedious process and you need to be very careful. You will be working with an electrical appliance so make sure you use items that will won’t be giving you any shock. Most people suggested using Collins but since I did not have it at home, I used nail polish remover to clean the switch board. It was very effective and won’t take much time as well. Let me share the cleaning process here.

How to a Clean Switch Board at Home?

Here is how to clean switch board at home by following some easy steps:

  • First, make sure the switchboard is disconnected from the power supply for safety.

  • Then dampen a cotton ball or cloth with the nail polish remover. Just pour a few drops and refrain from making the cotton or cloth too wet

  • Start wiping the switchboard surface gently to remove dirt and stains.

  • Do limit the amount of nail polish remover used to prevent damage.

  • Once cleaned, wipe the switchboard with a dry cloth and ensure it's completely dry before reconnecting power.

If you want, you can use toothpaste, Collins or even Harpic instead of nail polish remover. Just make sure to take all the safety precautions.

I have recently learned how to clean switch board with toothpaste, so I can share the steps with you all. Using toothpaste to clean a switchboard is a practical and affordable way to help get rid of dirt, stains, and discolouration. The cleansing and mild abrasives found in toothpaste make it suitable for use on switchboard surfaces.

How to clean dirty switch boards?

Materials You'll Need:
  • Toothpaste

  • Soft Cloth or Sponge

  • Water

  • Cotton Swabs or Toothbrush

Here is an easy guide about how to clean the switch board:
  • First and foremost, make sure the switchboard is not attached to a live electrical source. If required, turn off the electricity to the area, and move carefully to prevent any potential electrical risks.

  • Dust the switchboard surface with a dry cloth to get rid of any loose dirt.

  • Apply toothpaste by squeezing a tiny amount (approximately the size of a pea) of paste onto a soft cloth or sponge. A little toothpaste goes a long way, so try to avoid using it excessively.

  • Gently rub the surface of the switchboard with the cloth or sponge that has been coated in toothpaste. Focus on any stains or grime. To prevent scratching the surface, use circular motions and mild pressure.

  • Intricate or difficult-to-reach regions can be cleaned with cotton swabs or an old toothbrush that has been toothpaste-coated.

  • Wet a clean cloth or sponge lightly (not soaking wet) in water, then wring it out. To remove the toothpaste buildup from the switchboard, use this moist cloth.

  • After cleaning, make sure the switchboard is completely dry before restoring power or using it. You can use a dry cloth or allow it to air dry naturally.

  • Inspect the switchboard to ensure that it's clean to your satisfaction. If necessary, repeat the process to tackle stubborn stains or dirt.

You can follow these steps on how to clean switchboards at home.

Cleaning a switchboard with toothpaste is a simple and effective method, but it's essential to exercise caution around electrical components. If you have any concerns about safety or if the switchboard is heavily soiled or damaged, it's advisable to consult a professional electrician for assistance.
