How to Clean Baseboards?

About a year back, I got baseboards installed in my house and I haven’t cleaned them ever since. Recently, I noticed that they had become pretty dirty and I decided to clean them, but I didn’t know how to do that. I called my uncle and asked him how to clean really dirty baseboards. He told me about the steps that I needed to follow to get them cleaned. 

How to Clean Dirty Baseboards?

Following what my uncle told me, here is how I cleaned the baseboards. 

• I started by removing all the items, such as furniture, rugs, etc, from the cleaning area. 

• Next, I used the vacuum cleaner to remove all the dust and debris from over the baseboards, 

• After that, I filled a bucket with hot water and added a few drops of dish soap to make a cleaning solution. 

• I dipped a microfiber cloth in the solution and wiped down the baseboards.  

• During the cleaning process, I found that cleaning one section at a time is much easier. 

• There were some stains that were hard to remove. For these stains, I mixed baking soda with water to make a runny paste and scrubbed the areas with a brush to remove them. 

• Finally, I used a damp cleaning cloth to wipe off the baking soda mixture.

• Use a microfiber cloth or an attachment for your vacuum cleaner, dry dust your baseboards. 

• Put about two quarts of warm water and a few drops of dishwashing liquid in your bucket.

• Wring out a clean microfiber cloth from the bucket until it is damp but not saturated. Do not splash water all over your floors.

• Use a damp microfiber cloth to clean the baseboards, making sure to change the cleaning solution if it becomes cloudy.

• Using cotton swabs dipped in your mixture of water and dishwashing liquid, clean corners, edges, or particulars. This is one of the best way to clean baseboards.

• Set up fans to assist your baseboards with drying prior to returning decorations to their places.

How frequently would it be advisable for you to clean baseboards?

You should clean your baseboards once every two to three months. However, the frequency of cleaning will vary depending on the room of your home and the amount of foot traffic it receives. Regardless of when you last cleaned your baseboards, if a layer of dirt, dust, and pet hair has accumulated there, you should get them cleaned.
