Hello there. I work at a small restaurant as a daytime chef. One of the things that we take care of is to keep the floor clean. It isn’t done by us but having worked in the culinary industry for a long time, I do know how to clean a commercial kitchen floor. So, I will be helping you out by sharing the process in detail below.

How to Clean Commercial Kitchen Floors?

Here is the method you can follow:

  1. Begin by sweeping the floor to get rid of maximum dirt and debris. Then, use a broom with synthetic bristles to reach under, behind and all equipment.

  2. You then need to have a chemical degreaser. The application varies based on the floor type, material to be cleaned, etc. So, go for an appropriate chemical degreaser.

  3. Apply the chemical degreaser, following the manufacturer’s guidelines. Use a mop or sprayer for the application. Give it a rest for the suggested period.

  4. Use a scrub brush and scrub the solution by working the chemical degreaser into the grout lines.

  5. Next, remove the excess solution by pushing the chemical degreaser towards the floor drain with a squeegee.

  6. If there is no floor drain, mop the floor well by using a bucket of clean hot water, changing the water frequently.

  7. Remove any excess water and solution by using a clean mop. Use the figure 8 motion to work in small sections, flipping your mop halfway through.

  8. Use air blower to dry the floor if you are in a hurry, or let the natural process to its job. I do recommend you ush water towards the floor drains using floor squeegee though.

  9. If the flooring doesn’t have enough draining systems, you can go for a wet/dry vacuum or even a water extracting machine.

This is how to clean a commercial kitchen floor. I hope it helps.
