Summary
To check gas pressure in a split AC, first turn off the unit and locate the service valves on the outdoor unit. Connect a manifold gauge set securely, then turn on the AC and observe the readings. Normal pressure is usually 30–40 PSI, but it may vary. Compare pressure with temperature to adjust refrigerant correctly. Always follow safety precautions and handle refrigerant carefully for efficient cooling and system protection.

Here is how to check gas pressure in split AC unit:

  1. First, turn off the AC. Locate the service valves on the outdoor unit carefully. These valves let you connect the gauges to measure refrigerant pressure.

  2. Next, attach a manifold gauge set to the service valves. Make sure the connections are tight so no gas escapes.

  3. After connecting, turn on the AC and let it run for a few minutes.

  4. Observe the pressure readings on the gauges. For most systems, the normal range is between 30 to 40 PSI, but some models may need slightly higher or lower pressure depending on the design and capacity.

  5. To check if the refrigerant is correct, compare the pressure with the temperature.

  6. For every 1°F above 68°F (20°C), add 2 ounces (60 g) of R22 refrigerant per ton of cooling capacity.

  7. If the pressure drops below 30 PSI at full load, add 1 ounce (30 g) of R22 per ton.

This ensures the AC cools efficiently and avoids damage. Always follow safety steps when handling refrigerants. I hope you know the steps to check the gas pressure in a split AC.
