It took me two or three attempts to understand how does a sensor tap work. I learnt that a sensor tap works using infrared technology that detects our hand movement and automatically turns the water on. The sensor sends a signal to the valve and lets the water flow without needing to touch anything. It’s super convenient, saves water, and keeps things hygienic.
How Do Sensor Taps Work?
Here is what I learnt about the working process of a sensor tap:
So, a built-in infrared sensor in the sensor tap detects movement when you place your hands near the tap.
The sensor sends a signal to the control unit and lets the valve open.
The valve then allows water to flow automatically without needing to touch the tap.
When you remove your hands, the sensor detects no movement and signals the valve to close.
The system runs on batteries or electricity, ensuring smooth, touch-free operation.
So this is how do automatic taps work. You can read the features and specifications of the tap on its packaging itself and buy one as per your requirements.

Hey,
Nowadays , automatic sensor tap are installed in restaurants and airports. I think these taps are safer to use during COVID times as there is no need to turn the faucet on/off with your hands. There is no transfer of germs and bacteria. The automatic switches ensure that no water is wasted. This is how the mechanism saves water as well. If you want to know the meaning of sensor top and its working.
How does a sensor tap work ?Taps that are controlled with infra-red beam technology can be deemed as automatic sensor taps.
The beam is emitted from the sensor itself. It is located on the stem of most designs.
When hands are placed in front of the tap, the beam is interrupted.
This activates the flow of water.
Water flows for a short period, usually 30-40 seconds.
Then the flow of water huts off automatically,
The beam is activated again.
This entire process is repeated with every use.
These taps use less battery or electrical energy to function when compared to normal-standard taps.
Money :Since these taps are energy efficient. They help people save money on their electricity bills. Overall, it makes an impact on the yearly bill amount.
Temperature :The temperature of the water is kept constant through automatic regulation. There is no need to increase the volume of hot water or cold water to get the temperature of choice.
This is all from my end on automatic sensor tap.
