Can I put LED bulbs in fluorescent fixture?

I have installed LED fluorescent lights in my children’s room recently. I was concerned at the time because I wasn’t sure if those were LED fixtures or not. I asked my brother can I put LED bulbs in fluorescent fixtures. He helped me out. Here is what he told me.

My brother suggested I get ballast compatible LED bulbs which will literally just pop into the existing fixture and I won’t have to change anything at all. He explained that generally, there are 3 kinds of fluorescent fixtures - magnetic, electronic and instant-start. From what he knew, the LED fluorescent lights can work mostly in all of them, if not, in at least two of them.

I don’t think you can do that but don’t worry there is a solution around it as well. You can get an LED fluorescent light fixture or replace a fluorescent bulb with a retrofitted LED bulb. 

Honestly, when my brother got all technical about these things, I thought I should call an electrician and let him do his job rather than poking my nose around. 

I called up an electrician and simply stated that I want to install LED bulbs in my kids room and he was quick with replacing fluorescent light fixture with LED.

So, I believe the best way to install LED fluorescent light is probably to either get a ballast compatible LED bulb or change the fixture altogether.
