Is Patta number and Khata number the same?
Khata, which is typically common in the state of Tamil Nadu, also goes by the name Patta. There are two different forms of khata namely A Khata and B Khata as stated by the Bangalore office of the BBMP.

It is also called a "Record Of Rights (ROR)". The owner of that property is considered to be the individual whose name is listed in the Patta.
Both pieces of land without structures and those with them require land patta. It is a key document confirming the legitimate owner of the property. It also contains information about the land itself, such as its dimensions and whether it is a commercial or residential property.
