Summary

The cost of living room interiors ranges from 50,000 to 8,00,000, depending on the room size, design, and finish quality. The cost of the interior design items comprising the living room is as follows: TV unit (₹15,000- 250,000), sofa set ( 20,000- 300,000), tables ( 8000- 100000), false ceiling and lighting ( 15000- 250 000), wall treatments ( 8000- 120000), and window treatments ( 5000- 70000). Living room wallpaper designs range from 50 to 1,200/sq ft, depending on vinyl, non-woven, fabric, 3D-textured, and imported options. Strategies for budget optimization include focusing on high-impact items, combining custom and ready-made items, accent wall strategies, intelligent material substitution, and staged implementation.

The living room is the central point of any household, as it is the main place where people can spend time together and where guests are welcomed to enjoy themselves, which is why it is always vital to invest a lot of thought in the interior. The cost of interior design for a living room largely depends on the room's size, the intricacy of the design, furnishings, and finishes, with standard packages starting at ₹ 50,000 and reaching up to ₹ 8 lakhs for high-end living room interior design. Understanding the wallpaper design for the living room is equally essential when planning a complete transformation.

Living Room Wallpaper Design Price

Living room wallpaper styles and finishes display
Different wallpaper styles for living room across budgets

Wallpaper has become the most fashionable type of wall treatment, available in a variety of aesthetics, from simple textures to flashy designs. The price of wallpaper for the living room varies widely based on material type, brand, and installation complexity. Homeowners must factor the wallpaper design for the hall price into their overall living room interior cost planning from the very beginning to avoid budget surprises.

Types and Pricing

  • Vinyl Wallpaper: 50-150 / sq ft (strong, washable, suitable in Indian conditions)
  • Non-Woven Wallpaper: 80-200 per sq ft (breathable, simple to set up and remove)
  • Fabric Wallpaper: 280-500 per sq ft (luxury feel, high quality look)
Textured Wallpaper 3D: 200-600 sq ft (dramatic effects, statement walls)
  • Foreigner Designer Wallpaper: 400-1200 per sq ft (unusual designs, high-quality brands)

Installation Considerations

The wallpaper design for the hall price covers not only the material but also surface preparation, adhesive application, professional installation, and finishing. A single accent wall (100-120 sq ft) costs 8000-50000, depending on the quality of the wallpaper. Depending on the choice of material and the size of the room, installing full-room wallpaper can cost between 150000 and 250000.

Influencing Factors of Living Room Interior Cost

Living room size and design cost comparison
Living room interior cost influenced by size and design complexity

Various variables affect investment in final projects and must be carefully considered during the planning stages. A thorough understanding of each factor allows homeowners to control the cost of living room interior design without compromising on aesthetics or durability.

Room Size and Configuration

It is natural that the bigger the living room, the more materials, furniture, and light will be required, and correspondingly, the higher the living room interior cost. Oddly shaped rooms with more than one entrance, columns, or structural limitations may require a unique solution that adds to the complexity and cost of the living room's interior design. Open living rooms know no borders and are linked to dining areas, requiring a unified design language in larger spaces that affect total budgets.

Design Style and Complexity

  • Minimalist/Contemporary: Strauss lines, bare shapes (reduced costs of customization)
  • Traditional/Classic: Meticulous work, fancy details (average costs)
  • Luxury/Designer: Customization, high-quality materials (expensive) are unique.

Quality and Source of Furniture

  • Ready-Made: Retail furniture (most cost-efficient) is mass-produced.
  • Semi-Custom: Customized standard designs (moderate)
  • Fully Custom: Custom furniture made to fit space (premium)

Material Selection

The choice of materials for all elements, such as furniture upholstery, false ceiling material, wall coverings, and flooring, has a dramatic effect on initial expenses and durability. High-quality materials such as solid wood, authentic leather, and imported tiles command a higher cost for living room interior design than engineered materials, but are more durable.

False Ceiling and Lighting Costs

False ceilings enhance the beauty of living rooms, hide wiring, and facilitate complex lighting schemes. This component forms a significant portion of the overall living room interior cost.

False Ceiling TypePrice Range (₹/sq ft)Key Features
POP False Ceiling₹80 – ₹150Traditional, smooth finish
Gypsum False Ceiling₹60 – ₹120Lightweight, quicker to install
Grid False Ceiling₹40 – ₹80Cost-effective, business appearance
Wooden False Ceiling₹200 – ₹500Premium, natural look

Lighting Components:

  • LED strip lights: ₹150-400 per meter
  • Recessed spotlights: 300-1,200 INR/Voile.
  • Pendant lights: ₹2,000-₹15,000 each
  • Chandelier: 5000-50,000 and above, based on the size and design.

Budget Optimization Strategies

In living room projects, smart planning will maximize design impact while controlling costs. These strategies are especially useful when working within a fixed living room interior design price range.

Prioritization Approach

Make a major investment in high-impact, long-term components such as a quality sofa and entertainment unit that are used daily. Think of saving as decorative accent pieces and accessories that can be replaced over time without compromising basic functionality.

Cost-Saving Techniques

  • Mix Custom and Ready-Made: Ready-made coffee tables, but a custom TV unit.
  • Accent Wall Finishing: Wallpaper one wall, not the entire room.
Smart Material Replacement: engineered wood as opposed to solid wood.
  • Gradual Introductions: Finish necessities first, then add decorations later.
  • Local Sourcing: Minimize transportation expenses for furniture and materials.

Conclusion

Knowing the cost of living room interior design will enable homeowners to create beautiful, functional living rooms that reflect both their design dreams and their budgets. The cost of the living room interior depends on the room size, design complexity, material choices, and desired finish quality, with a range of approximately 50,000 to 8 lakhs for the most economical solutions to upscale luxury designs. Wallpaper charges (living room only) range from 8000 to 150000, depending on the material used and the total area covered, whereas packages of full furniture cost between 50,000 and 5 lakhs, depending on the quality and customization involved.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the percentage of the total home interior budget to be allocated to the living room?toggle icon
The living room typically accounts for 25-35% of the overall home interior budget because it is the most visible and most often used area, necessitating major investment in quality furniture, lighting, and standout design features.
Do the walls of a living room cost more to have wallpaper than paint?toggle icon
Yes, at first, wallpaper design costs 50-600/sq ft in the living room, compared to 15-50/sq ft for paint. Nevertheless, good wallpaper will last 8-12 years compared to 3-5 years of paint, which may level the long-term expenses.
Should I invest more in furniture or a false ceiling for my living room?toggle icon
It's generally better to prioritize furniture, such as a comfortable sofa and an entertainment unit, as they directly impact daily comfort and functionality. The balance depends on your personal preferences and budget.
What would the cost of redesigning the existing living room and starting fresh be?toggle icon
Renovation using a few of the existing designs is 30-50 percent cheaper than a total makeover. It is more economical to keep the flooring, reupholster the current sofa, and repaint the walls rather than purchasing everything new.
What is the optimal time frame to finish the interior of the living room?toggle icon
The whole living room project takes 4-8 weeks, with design completion (1 week), furniture production (2-4 weeks), artificial ceiling and walling (1-2 weeks), and final installation and decoration (1 week).

After 6 months with NoBroker interiors, I'm loving the small stuff . Cutlery tray fits Indian spoons/ladles perfectly, charging shelf in wardrobe with USB port is super handy, magic corner cabinet in kitchen is a gamechanger, soft-close toilet roll holder is a win, and shoe rack ventilation holes are genius. These tiny details make a big difference in daily use .

Wanted to keep this short. Center visit was solid - good materials, staff are polite and know their stuff 😊. But seeing a completed flat in our complex did it for me. Clean finish, smooth drawers, finished ahead of schedule per homeowner. Booked the same week.

OMG, finally! 😊 We've been stuck on interiors for 3 months, and every website and showroom felt like a total snooze fest. Then we stumbled upon NoBroker's Varthur experience center, and it was a GAME CHANGER! Priya (I think that's her name?) didn't bombard us with catalogs; she actually listened - asked about our apartment, lifestyle, cooking habits... everything! Then she showed us the displays in context of OUR life, not some generic dream home. My husband actually got excited about something for the first time! We signed up on the spot. Now waiting for the design presentation, fingers crossed!

This review is from a couple who fights about everything haha. I wanted dark colors and modern look, my husband wanted light wood and earthy tones. The designer at Varthur center literally played mediator. She showed us a concept where the common areas (living room, kitchen) use light wooden textures that my husband likes, and the master bedroom uses the darker charcoal tones that I prefer. The kids room got a neutral palette with colorful accents. Everyone happy. She called it 'transitional design' where different zones have different personalities but connected by a common accent color (we chose teal). The 3D walkthrough she made showed exactly how it all flows together. I showed it to 3 friends and they all said it looks like something out of Architectural Digest. OK maybe I'm exaggerating a little but you get the point. We both love it.

To be honest, I was super skeptical about branded interior services - thought they were just overpriced and overhyped 😊. Had to be dragged to the Horamavu center by a friend. But the quality difference between their factory-made units and my current flat's site-built work was night and day! Machine-pressed edge banding vs hand-applied tape, smooth drawer runners, thicker plywood... I was sold! Guess you need to see and touch things to believe 'em 😁

We visited the HSR NoBroker experience center for flooring and wall treatment options for our living room. The team showed us various options including wooden flooring, vitrified tiles, and designer wall panels. They explained the pros and cons of each option for Bangalore's climate. The combination of textured wall panels with warm lighting they suggested transformed our visualization completely.

We are from Thanisandra and visited the center for our villa interior project. The designer adapted her approach for a larger independent house—didn't just scale up apartment designs. She proposed separate design personalities for ground floor (where guests are entertained—formal, elegant) and first floor (private family spaces—warm, casual). The staircase got under-staircase pull-out storage that holds 30 pairs of shoes. The double-height living room got a dramatic false ceiling with a chandelier recess. The master bedroom got a walk-in closet design instead of a regular wardrobe. Villa interiors need different thinking than apartment interiors and this team clearly has experience with both formats.

I recently completed my home interior project with NoBroker Interiors, and my overall experience was a mix of positives along with a few areas for improvement. The highlight of the project was the execution as per the company norms. The concerned Project Manager was responsive throughout the process. I’m satisfied with the execution and delivered results on the ground. In terms of pricing, NoBroker Interiors is on the higher side. However, they do follow through on their commitments and ensure completion of the work, which adds value if you are looking for a relatively hassle-free experience. Overall, I would consider NoBroker Interiors a reliable option, especially if your priority is strong execution and project management. That said, there is some scope for improvement in design detailing and proactiveness in guiding the customers in their home renovations.

As a working professional with limited time to manage contractors, the project management aspect is what attracted me. Visited the center with a Pinterest board of 47 saved kitchen images. The consultant didn’t get overwhelmed. She patiently went through each one, identified common elements I was drawn to (handleless cabinets, wooden textures, open shelving), and created a unified design that captured the essence of all those pins. She basically translated my chaotic Pinterest board into a cohesive design. Overall we are very satisfied with the entire experience from start to finish.
