Hey there. If you are wondering why my AC is not turning off, there can be quite a lot of reasons for this. I am going to list them below.

  1. Electrical Problems: So, electrical component issues can often cause the AC to not stop running. Problems like a stuck relay switch or a defective compressor can cause your AC to operate continuously.

  2. Clogged or Dirty Components: If your air filter is contaminated or the condenser coils are covered with debris in the AC unit can cause it to run constantly. When AC filters become dirty, the flow of air is blocked, causing the system to engage in continuous cooling cycles just to maintain a proper level of coolness.

  3. Thermostat Malfunctions: Another reason for your AC not turning off can be because of a malfunctioning thermostat. If the AC won’t turn off because of malfunctions in the thermostat, such as impaired sensors or loose wiring connections, the thermostat may fail to communicate correctly with the AC unit, causing the AC to overwork and cool excessively.

Steps to Turn Your AC Off

If you take basic troubleshooting steps such as adjusting the thermostat settings, cleaning or replacing air filters, checking the evaporator coils if they are freezing, inspecting and cleaning the outdoor unit of your AC, you may be able to turn the AC off without professional help from technicians.
