Why is My AC Unit Fan Not Spinning?

The technician after inspecting the problem said that the AC unit fan was not spinning because of a burnt out motor because of overheating. I can share the steps that he followed to resolve this issue,

1. After shutting off the power source, the technician manually checked to see if the fan blades moved freely. He suspected a burnt-out motor because they were not moving freely.

2. The technician used a voltmeter to see if the motor was getting electricity. 

3. After removing the damaged motor, he installed a new, unit-compatible motor.

4. Finally, he used a lubricant to guarantee smooth operation prior to reassembling. After securing the motor, he powered the unit back on to verify the fan was spinning properly.

Following the replacement fan motor, the air conditioner resumed working, bringing back enough cooling and circulation.

• Electrical Problems: 

The motor might not be getting power because of a blown fuse, tripped circuit breaker, or damaged electrical connection. Verify the fuses and circuit breaker to make sure they are operating correctly.

• Motor Failure: 

Examine whether the air conditioner fan motor not spinning. A broken or burned-out fan motor can be the cause of the failure. Over time, motors may wear out, in which case you will need to replace it.

• Capacitor Issues: 

The motor's capacitor may be broken. The capacitor keeps the motor running and helps start it; if it fails, the motor will not spin. If the capacitor is malfunctioning, you might see it bulging or leaking.

• Problems with the Contactor: 

If the contactor isn't working properly, the motor won't get electricity. Examine the contactor for indications of wear or damage.

• Wiring Issues:

• Blocked Fan Blade: 

Debris or other items can occasionally prevent the fan blade from moving. Remove any obstacles if that's the case.

• Thermostat Settings: 

Check to see if the temperature and cooling mode on your thermostat are acceptable.
