We got a split AC installed in our home last year, and this was something we were confused about too. The location plays a crucial role when you’re installing an AC, because it will ensure proper functioning and also save much electricity. So, before you decide where to install split AC in room, you must consider the height of the indoor unit. For split ACs, professionals usually recommend placing it at a height more than a human height.

Where Should Split AC be Installed in a Room?
The technicians we hired to install the AC told us that the indoor unit projects out from the wall surface, so it’s advisable to install it at a higher level. But to ensure there’s optimal air flow throughout the room, split ACs have the air diffuser at the bottom of the unit.
Here are some things I learned from the technicians.
You should fix the indoor unit of a split AC at a height between 7ft to 8ft from the floor. Also, leave around four inches height above the false ceiling to allow proper airflow.
Make sure you don’t place the AC immediately above any electrical appliances like TV, because if the unit leaks, this could be a major hazard.
For an outdoor unit, place it on a flat and sturdy surface. Otherwise, it will vibrate rigorously and may cause copper pipe breakage or damage the compressor.
The technician also mentioned that an outdoor unit should be in an open space, so that air may freely flow over the condenser.
These are a few location ideas we got to know from the professionals. I hope this will help you place your AC correctly.

Hi Nihal! Let me tell you where to install split AC in room. Despite having a window air conditioner, I purchased a split air conditioner for my new home. But, I was not sure where to install them. After doing some research, I discovered that the ideal spots are in the middle of the room, or right above the bed, or beside the bed. Additionally, I came across the crucial factors to take into account when selecting the perfect location for efficient cooling.
Where should Split AC be Installed in a Room?
Wherever you decide to put your split system air conditioner, there are a few tips you should go by:
Keep your split AC away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
You must ensure that your split AC is mounted high (at least 7 to 8 meters for a big room) on the wall.
Make sure the area around your AC unit is at least 15 cm. This will allow cool air to circulate freely and uniformly throughout the space.
Moreover, I found that the north or south facing walls are the best for Split AC placement in room.
Where to Install Window AC in Room?
I found online that 3 to 4 feet from the floor is the ideal height for a window-style air conditioner. The AC will trip owing to high head pressure if it is fixed very close to the wall or in an airtight room since heat dissipation is not possible.
Moreover, I found that the air conditioner will run more effectively if it is installed in a shaded window. So, I placed my window AC in the North.
I will suggest you check your room size, and distance from windows and electrical outlets before choosing where to put an AC unit in a space. You can get your AC installed directly from the below link:
