When Will Property Prices Go UpEven before the pandemic hit, property prices had declined about 1 percent during the Jan-March period in 2021 from the previous quarter, as per the RBI data.
Most new property projects are either delayed or unsold due to the covid-19 spreading in India at a very fast rate - causing labor migration out of top-tier cities, pay cuts in almost all sectors, and massive job losses. The average property prices are expected to shrink this year as well.
The coronavirus impact has struck the residential sector hard and while green shoots are developing in terms of sales activity, it is majorly focused on ready-to-move and completed properties. Unsold and under-construction properties remain under slight stress.
This is why making any long or midterms projections about house prices in Delhi remain difficult, with the rising of the Omicron variant of the Coronavirus. I don’t think anybody would be able to predict this with too much precision and I guess property prices will significantly rise only when the pandemic is over.
