FSI stands for Floor Space Index. As far as I know, there is no rule stated for the compensation of garages or terraces, but there is a market trend. In order to compensate for the terrace area, 1/3 of the terrace area is provided for terraces and garages. It will be better if you talk about it with the society officials where you are planning to live and check the city rules as well.
