• First, check your thermostat. 

  • Make sure you set it to “Cool” mode. 

  • Set the temperature at least 5 degrees lower than the room temperature. 

  • If your thermostat uses batteries, replace them. 

  • Also, make sure sunlight or heat is not directly hitting the thermostat.

• Next, check the air filter. A dirty filter blocks airflow and reduces cooling. 

  • Remove the filter and hold it up to a light. If you cannot see light through it, replace it. 

  • Change filters every 3 months. Also, check that all air vents are open and not blocked by furniture or curtains.

• Then, inspect the outdoor unit. Make sure leaves, dirt, and debris are not blocking it. 

  • Keep at least 2 feet of clear space around the unit. 

  • Turn off the power before cleaning. 

  • Gently clean the outer fins with a soft brush.

• Look for ice on the indoor unit or refrigerant lines. If you see ice or hear hissing sounds, your system may have a refrigerant leak. In this case, call a professional technician. Only certified experts can handle refrigerants safely.

• If your AC still blows warm air, makes strange noises, leaks water, or runs constantly without cooling, contact an HVAC technician.

1. Frost on the refrigerant tubing

2. Poor cooling

3. Higher utility bills

4. Excessive water drainage
