Hello guys, I was recently looking at a flat layout and kept noting the acronym WC on the floor plan. I had no clue what is WC in floor plan. So I asked my uncle, a civil engineer, and he said WC stands for Water Closet in a house plan. This term is frequently used to describe a tiny space with a toilet in architectural and interior design applications.

What is WC in House Plan?

In contrast to a full bathroom, a water closet usually concentrates on serving as a specific, frequently small area for personal hygiene needs. It usually lacks a shower or bathtub but occasionally has a small sink.

  1. Including a WC in your floor plan is important for the space's overall design beauty, in addition to its practicality.

  2. The flow of your house might be improved with a well-designed water closet. It improves its appeal and comfort.

  3. WC should ideally be placed discreetly to preserve privacy while also being easily accessible.

It is also crucial to think about your toilet's ventilation to keep the air fresh and prevent offensive smells. I hope you found this information useful.

What does WC mean in a floor plan?

WC is actually not used nowadays. It is an old term used to refer to a private room with a flushing toilet. In European countries, you will get to hear this term but Indian people rarely use it. But I hope what is WC in building plan is now clear to you.

Why is it called a water closet?

It is called a water closet as there is only one place in the home that has indoor water and it gets installed in a remodelled closet. They are usually built within a small area.

What are the two types of water closets?

There are usually two types of water closets and they are round and elongated. Round water closets are generally used in areas that have less space and elongated water closets are used in areas which are spacious. However elongated water closets are believed to be more comfortable hence most people opt for them.
