Hi there, Vested interest, as the name says, is the personal involvement of a person in an investment or a project as such. It gives power or ownership to a person over a particular project or property. I am a finance associate and I have a considerably good understanding of vested interest meaning in terms of finance as well. And I would be glad to share some of my knowledge to make you understand what is vested interest.  In the financial context, a vested interest refers to a person’s or an entity’s legal right at some point in the future to have access to an intangible or a tangible property like a bond, stock, money, securities, or mutual funds. The claimant gains access to such property after a time span which is called the vesting period. This period is decided upon by the company or individual who owns the property. For example, sometimes it may happen that a company may fix a vesting period ranging from 3 to 5 years for employees. In other cases, it may also happen that a company does not prescribe any vesting period and the ownership over the property or asset can be exercised immediately or in simple words, the interest can be vested into the asset with immediate effect. Retention of such property exists for a person or any entity which claims or owns the property without being dependent on anything else, even if they do not immediately own the property. Therefore, interest can be said to be vested if the rights of the property may be transferred to another party anytime in the present or in the future. This means that an individual or any entity can take ownership of or have a vested interest in an asset without the terms of ownership.  I hope my understanding of what is vested interest meaning was useful to you.
