Charges Included in BWSSB Water Bill

My neighbour informed me that the following fees could be included in your BWSSB water bill:

• Sanitary charges

The minimum sanitary charge for residential and commercial buildings using BWSSB or borewell water is Rs 100 or 25% of the water bill, whichever is higher. Sanitary fees for water usage between 0 and 8,000 liters are Rs 14 per connection. The sanitary charge is equal to 25% of the monthly water rates for water usage exceeding 8,000 liters.

• Prorata charges

Prorata fees are charged at the following rates: Rs 250, Rs 400, or Rs 600 per square meter for new houses.

• Borewell charges

The monthly water rent for a house above 1,200 square feet is Rs 100. However, for a house under 600 square feet or between 600 and 1,200 square feet, it is Rs 50.

Apart from these three, my neighbour said you may also see other charges in your BWSSB bill like sewerage, maintenance, service, meter rent, inspection, and penalty charges for unapproved connections. These fees are imposed for maintenance and improvements of the city's sewerage and water systems.
