What is low heat cement?

Low heat cement is a special type of cement that generates low heat of hydration during the setting. This type of cement is just like normal Portland cement with some percentage changes in the chemical composition. The low heat cement contains a lower percentage of (5%) tricalcium aluminate (C3A) and a higher percentage (46%) of dicalcium silicate (C2S).

Low heat cement uses:

1. To make the roads and workroom surface of factories including chemical plants and sulphuric acid factories.

2. Low heat cement is required for constructing dams, large footings, large raft slabs, and wind turbine plinths.

1. The risk of thermal cracking in thick concrete is less.

2. The durability of low-heat cement is high.

3. It has properties such as high final strength, sulphate corrosion resistance, good lasting properties, good resistance to rupture, and anti-seepage.

4. Improves the strength of later-age concrete.

5. Provides resistance to sulphate attack, especially in concrete pipes.

1. The cement is not favourable for cold weather conditions.

2. The price of the cement is higher than that of Ordinary cement.
