While buying a house, I got confused about what is built up area in construction. On discussing the same with my builder friend, I got a clarity regarding these topics. So I’ll be happy to share my learnings with you.

What is the Built Up Area of Multi Storey Building?
My builder friend said;
The entire area of the property, including the carpet area, walls, balconies, and other spaces like lobbies and hallways, is referred to as the "built-up area."
Wall thickness is included in the built-up area, which is typically 10–20% more than the carpet area.
The built-up area also includes communal spaces like elevators and staircases that are used by all building occupants.
The formula to calculate built up area is as follows;
Built up Area is equal to Carpet Area + Wall Areas + Terrace and Balcony + Exclusive Corridor.
I believe this information will help you.
