What is a Foyer?

A foyer is an area that interlinks the entrance door and the entire interior of the house. To be able to understand what is a foyer, we need to first comprehend its purpose. A foyer is built to provide an entryway to the interior of the house. It can be as big as a room or can be just like a hallway. 

A foyer can include a console table, a closet for hanging coats and umbrellas, and other things. Some foyers may also have a mudroom which can be used to hang coats or store dirty shoes prior to entering the house.

A foyer is usually made of tiles or wood since they are easier to clean off the dirt after the guests leave. Carpet is generally avoided in foyers because it is not possible to clean carpets every time. 

Some foyers may also have a seating space and fancy flowers to give it a more appealing look.

• Foyers can be furnished with seatings and console tables and benches with a small rug below them.

• Good lighting and some pendant lighting can also be a good decoration for the foyer.

• Paint the accent wall with some bright or subtle colours as per your choice to add an extra appeal to the foyer.

• Use embellishments like vintage lamps, candle holders, mirrors, or frames if there is ample space in the foyer.

• Add indoor plants and statement decorative pieces and statues if you have a grand foyer.
