Here is the list of documents needed to claim insurance after an intercity shifting in India:
Original Invoice and packing lift, if included in the invoice.
For declaration policies, make sure that the consignment falls within the limit of the remaining sum insured.
Get a damage or shortage certificate from the carrier.
Photos and or videos of the damaged goods taken at delivery time, in addition to any open delivery remark if damage is noticed immediately.
If transit damage is suspected, insurance companies advise insisting on an open delivery from the carrier and obtaining their certificate validating the quantity of damaged or lost goods during transit.
In the event of loss or damage during transit, it is important to promptly file a monetary claim with the carrier within the given time period to still have recovery rights.
It is also needed to appoint a surveyor as agreed upon by the insurr to assess and find out the loss or damage’s cause, nature and extent.
These are all the documents I had to submit for the insurance claim from TATA AIG. Remember one thing: the documentation requirement can change a bit based on the specific circumstances of your claim.
