Under the Pagdi system, the tenant has certain rights over the property but not over the land. The tenant can even sublet the premises or sell the property, by giving a share to the owner. The most fundamental right of a tenant under the Pagdi system is the right to occupy the rented property. Once the Pagdi has been paid, the tenant has the right to remain in the property for the agreed lease period.
