Here are the air conditioner installation requirements:
For the indoor unit:
You should install the AC on a dry and moisture-free wall.
Use a strong wall or a 6-inch thick wall for support. 19 mm plywood can also be used.
You should place the unit at a good height. The room should be at least 9 feet high so the unit can sit around 7 feet from the floor.
You should make sure there is a way to drain the water from the AC.
Keep space around the unit: at least 5 inches on the sides and 12 inches on top for airflow.
For the outdoor unit:
Place the unit in an open area where heat can escape easily, like a terrace.
You should avoid direct sunlight if possible.
Install it in a place that is easy to access for maintenance.
Keep space around it: 12 inches on the sides and back, and 24 inches in front.
If you install two outdoor units together, place them side by side with the fans facing outward, or stack them with at least an 8-inch gap between them.
So, proper air conditioner installation needs strong support, correct height, good airflow, and proper drainage for safe and efficient performance. Both indoor and outdoor units should have enough space and be placed in suitable locations. Following these basic requirements helps the AC work better, last longer, and stay easy to maintain.

The split air conditioner installation requirements are as follows,
Indoor Unit Preparation: The wall or surface should be damp-free and sturdy enough to hold the indoor AC unit. Walls must be at least 6 inches thick, or a 19mm plywood panel can be used for support. The room height should be at least 9 feet, ensuring a 7-foot clearance from the bottom of the unit. Provide a drainage provision for condensed water. Maintain 5 inches of free space on the sides and 12 inches above the unit for proper air circulation.
Outdoor Unit Placement: Install the outdoor unit where it can release heat freely, such as a terrace. Avoid direct sunlight exposure. Ensure the unit is easily accessible for maintenance. Maintain 12 inches of space on the sides and back, and 24 inches in front of the fan.
Multiple Units: If installing two outdoor units in the same area, place them side by side with fans outward or stacked with 8 inches of clearance between them.
Following these guidelines ensures efficient performance and safe installation.

The window air conditioner installation requirements are as follows,
The window sill should be at least 36 inches (3 feet) from the floor to ensure proper placement and safety.
The window must have a minimum clear opening of 27” x 18” (700mm x 450mm) to fit the AC unit, as sizes vary by brand and tonnage.
Ensure the window is at least 20 inches (500mm) away from adjacent walls to prevent the wall from absorbing the cooling.
Wooden frames are preferred to absorb vibrations. If the window has metal framing, provide wooden packing to reduce noise caused by AC vibrations.
The unit must be easily accessible for maintenance, and there should be 20 inches (500mm) of free space behind the AC for proper ventilation.
Following these requirements ensures efficient performance, reduced noise, and long-term durability of the window AC unit.

We installed a split AC last summer, and I can tell you some of the basic air conditioner installation requirements. Foremost, the surface should be damp-free and sturdy enough to support the weight of the unit. We got our AC installed by a professional service, and I learned a lot of things that must be taken care of before beginning the installation procedure.
What are the Requirements for AC Installation?
There are some basic and specific requirements for AC installation which may differ depending on the type of AC. Let me first walk you through some basic things required for AC installation.
You should install the AC in a room with airtight space. It should have property functioning doors and Windsor, to avoid leakage of cool air.
The room should also have enough power supply to support the operation of the unit.
I also learned you should preferably have curtains and a false ceiling in the room, which will reduce heat transfer from the outside to the inside of the room.
Also, as mentioned in the previous answer, make sure you have a grounding connection and a fixed electrical point in the room, connected to an electrically protected circuit.
Another major requirement is the provision of drainage of condensation, which means the room should have an easy installation of drain pipe.
What are the Requirements for Split AC Installation?
Split AC has two components: indoor and outdoor units. During our installation process, I learned about the following requirements.
The wall should be at least 6 inches thick to mount the indoor AC unit. Also, the height of the room should be at least 9 feet.
You should also have some free space, of at least 5 inches from the side of the indoor AC unit. Likewise, there should be some space, of at least 12 inches from the top of the AC unit. This is for better air circulation.
So, these are some basic requirements you should know of. I hope this helps.

How to Install Split AC on Wall?
Your Feedback Matters! How was this Answer?
Hello, the air conditioner installation requirements include a closed indoor enclosure, an open exterior area, an electricity power supply of 220 Vac. and more. We recently purchased a 1.5 ton Samsung AC and had to get it installed in our bedroom. So, we looked over all these requirements to make the installation process easier for us. I am sharing the detailed list of requirements with you below.
What are the Things Required for AC Installation?
You first need to have a closed indoor enclosure that has a thermal capacity that matches the capacity of the AC. You need a wall that has no inclinations and can handle the weight of the AC’s interior unit.
Next, you need an open outdoor area to place the outdoor unit of your AC.
This is more of a directional-based requirement. If you live in a windy place, the outdoor unit should be installed in the direction in which the wind does not come in contact with the air discharge of the unit.
You would require an electricity supply of 220 Vac. You need to ensure that the frequency and the voltage of the supply are at a level with the rated voltage. Also, check that the electricity supply doesn’t undergo any voltage fluctuations.
You must have a fixed electrical point with an electrically protected circuit. This point should have enough capacity for the current of the AC and must be close to the unit.
Make sure that you have a grounding connection.
You need an installation kit under the air conditioner installation requirements.
A pipe with a maximum pipe length in the AC between 9,000 and 12,000 BTU/hr is 15 m.
A pipe with a maximum pipe length in the AC between 18,000 and 24,000 BTU/hr is 30 m.
A minimum pipe length of 3 m.
These are the requirements for AC installation. I hope this helps.
