Hello Yousufa. I saw you were confused regarding should you dust or vacuum first. So remember this, always dust first, then vacuum. That's the correct order, and there's a simple reason behind it.

Why Dusting Before Vacuuming Makes Sense

  1. When you dust, not all the particles stick to your cloth or duster. A lot of them get kicked up into the air and eventually settle back down on the floor.

  2. So if you vacuum first and then dust, you're basically dirtying up a floor you just cleaned.

  3. You'd have to vacuum all over again which is a total waste of time and effort.

  4. What I would recommend is to dust everything first, starting from the top and working your way down. Ceiling fans, shelves, TV units, furniture and finally the skirting boards.

  5. Then give the settled dust 5-10 minutes to land on the floor before you vacuum.

  6. Always dust top to bottom. Dust the almirah on top first, not the centre table.

  7. Use a slightly damp microfiber cloth instead of a dry one. It traps dust instead of just spreading it around.

  8. If your home has heavy foot traffic or kids running around, a quick sweep before dusting helps clear out the larger debris first.

This is all.

Cleaning a house might seem an easy task until you do it yourself. Last year I was scolded and asked to clean my room within an hour. I used our vacuum cleaner to clean everything and later dusted my bookshelf. The problem was, the floors got all dirty again and my mother thought I did nothing to clean the room. I explained to her anything and that is when I learnt from here whether to vacuum first or dust first. For every task, a few steps must be followed. Let me tell should you dust or vacuum first when cleaning or not.

Avail NoBroker’s home cleaning service and get your house dusted and vacuumed at a nominal price.

What should be done before- dusting or vacuuming and why?

To clean some areas, especially while cleaning pots, vases, books or more, dusting is very much needed. But even the best duster fails to remove all the dust completely from the room. The dust particles float in the air for some time and eventually fall on the table, sofa, floor or other surfaces.

On the other hand, a vacuum cleaner efficiently cleans dust but we cannot use them to clean delicate things like vases or pots isn’t it? So it's better to dust all the required things and then use a vacuum cleaner to clean the entire room. If you ask me is it better to dust or vacuum first, I will say dust first. Always dust the room before vacuuming so that you can vacuum the particles that settled on the floor after dusting.

Can wet cloth be used for dusting?

Yes, you can use a wet cloth for dusting. I have a dust allergy hence I use semi-wet cloth. It is in fact a great way to remove dust as it restricts the dry dust particles to float in the air. The wet cloth makes the dust particles wet and heavy, helping us to wipe them off easily.

I hope you have understood should you dust or vacuum first.
