That is a huge hike. Did you try talking to your landlord about the same? Please check your rental agreement for the rent increase clause. From what I know, the rent hike is generally between 5% to 10%. It is mentioned in the rent agreement as well.
If you cannot reason with the landlord then my advice would be to look for a new property instead on engaging in a legal battle. It will be time consuming and will cost you money as well.
