Whether your AC needs a stabiliser or not depends on the voltage fluctuations in your area. But it’s better to have a stabiliser to prevent your AC from any damage from regular power cuts. Last year, when we bought an AC, I had the same concern. I asked the technicians who helped with the installation, is stabilizer required for split AC? They told me, it’s better to have it, whether you have voltage issues or not.

Does Split AC Need Stabilizer?
First, you need to understand the use of a stabiliser. It’s a device that provides a constant and steady voltage output from the main power supply to the AC. Now, let me tell you why you may need a stabiliser.
The technicians told us that a stabiliser is important to maintain a constant voltage so it prevents any power failures which may harm the internal circuitry of the AC.
If you’re in an area where there are constant voltage fluctuations, then a stabiliser is a must to prevent irreparable damage.
Since our AC didn’t have an in-built stabiliser, the professionals recommended having it to avoid any risk of damage.
I also learned that some ACs offer a stabiliser free operation. In that case, you don’t need to get a stabiliser because these ACs automatically switch off the power supply if the input voltage is outside the supported range.
So, that’s all the reasons why you need and need not get a stabiliser for your AC. I hope this will help you make a decision.
