I’m skeptical of visiting a registrar’s office due to the coronavirus situation. Can I register a rental agreement online? Would it be considered legal in Pune?

Hello there, I recently got my rental agreement done online and yes, it is legal. The government of Maharashtra has an online portal for the e-registration process. It provides the facility of online registration of Leave and License Agreement to the citizen. All you need is to fill in the details on the website. Here’s what we can do, 1) Prepare the online rent agreement according to our requirement and submit it on the website 2) We can view the draft any point of time. 3) I had to make a few modifications in the draft and it was possible as there is an option to modify the draft if required. 4) Later, after thorough checking, I executed (signed) the document 5) After this, I submitted it for registration online itself. 6) Now I got it registered online. 7) I also got the status of registration through SMS Apart from this, you need to have these things: 1) Biometric Device (Thumb Scanner) 2) Webcam This was done online without being physically present at the Sub Registrar Office. However, there might be a little confusion and it is time-consuming as well while doing it all by yourself. I could do this because one of my cousins in this field and he guided me whenever needed. If you are unsure about this, you can always contact online rental agreement service providers. They will do all the process on your behalf.
