An ancestor's estate is any estate received from a father, grandfather, or great-grandfather. An estate acquired by a son is not recognized ancestral property, but rather self-acquired ownership, according to the Hindu Succession Act of 1956. In many cases, the beneficiary is unable to identify the information of the property, especially if it is located in a small village or subdistrict. Locating such a property is similar to finding a pin in the desert. If you're having trouble locating your ancestral property information, follow this step-by-step guide:

1) Go to your state's 'bhumi jankari' webpage, select 'query,' and then enter the district/taluka/village from the drop-down menu.

2) Here you can look up the names of your grandfathers and mothers.

3) If you can't discover the name, go to the Tahsildar's office and request the Village form 8-A computer record. You can find out the entire ownership of your ancestors in the village using this form.

4) Request Forms VII-XII, VI, and VIII-A if you still can't get the property's details. You can examine these village forms in accordance with MLR Section 327. If you don't know the land's survey number, you should go to the Tahsildar's office and look through all of the forms.

5) With the survey number, you can use Form VI to look up the land's history and survey number for the property's history on the official website of the land and registration department. Once you have the history, you can quickly determine the property's current state.

6) Once you've located your ancestral property, file a request with the Record of Rights to make the appropriate changes (Village form VI-XII). Then, to declare your right to the property, visit a lawyer for extra formalities.

This way you can see all the information about your grandfather’s property.
