Using an MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) in house wiring is all about making sure each circuit in your home is protected from overloads and short circuits. Here is how to connect MCB in house wiring:

  1. Before you start doing anything with the wiring, you should switch off the main power supply.

  2. You should wear insulated gloves or other basic safety gear to avoid any risks.

  3. After that, use a voltage tester to make sure the circuit is completely dead.

  4. Different circuits need different MCB ratings. Light points, sockets, and heavy appliances all draw different loads. Pick an MCB that matches the load of the circuit you want to protect. If you are unsure, an electrician can help identify the right one.

  5. Inside your home’s distribution board, you will find the slot where the MCB needs to be installed.

  6. Once you have turned off the main power, you can open the board and look for empty space for the new breaker.

  7. If you don’t find any, you may need to rearrange the board or think about upgrading it.

  8. After placing the MCB in the slot, the live wire from the circuit goes into the MCB’s input terminal. The neutral wire connects to the neutral bar in the DB. All wire ends should be cleanly stripped and tightly fixed so there is no loose connection.

  9. Once everything is connected, close the DB cover and switch on the main power.

  10. Turn the MCB on. If it stays on and the circuit works normally, the wiring is correct. A quick voltage test ensures the circuit is getting the right supply.

  11. Finally, you should label the MCB with the name of the circuit it controls, like “Lights,” “Sockets,” or “Kitchen.” This will help you identify it easily later, especially during any repair or checking.

Hope this helps you.
