How to Fix an AC Stabiliser?
The first thing I do is check the circuit board and find the problem. Recently, I found an issue with the capacitor so we had to get it replaced. Here’s how you can repair an AC Stabiliser.
To remove the capacitor, you have to add some solder to its joints and simultaneously heat both pads using a soldering iron. At the same time, you must pull the cap from the other side.
Then, you just have to replace the capacitor, but make sure you get the same voltage or higher. First remove the solder from the pad, then place the cap, bend the leads on the other side, and solder it.
Next, shorten the leads and then clean the stabiliser.
To clean, you have to remove the transformer. So, carefully take out the screws and use a paintbrush or toothbrush with a cleaning agent to clean the stabiliser.
Once you finish cleaning, just fix everything back together. Start with the transformer and then the circuit box.
That’s how you can repair the AC stabiliser. If it looks complicated, don’t hesitate to take help from a professional technician. Don’t attempt to repair it if you're unsure.
I hope this helps.

Stabilisers face several kinds of issues for which they might not function properly. Some obvious reasons are due to power or voltage fluctuations, faulty wiring, overloading or overheating and others. I have always hired professionals to solve these issues and I can list the stabilizer problems and solutions I am aware of to date here.
What to do When AC Stabilizer is not Working?
AC stabilisers might not work properly due to a number of factors. Here is a list of causes and remedies:
Causes | Remedies |
Power Surge or Voltage Fluctuations |
Install a surge protector between the power source and stabiliser |
Faulty Wiring or Connections |
Inspect and tighten all connections, replace damaged parts, and ensure proper stabiliser grounding |
Overloading or Overheating |
Reduce load, allow cooling before restarting, and upgrade to higher capacity if needed for stabiliser efficiency |
Internal Component Failure |
Replace the faulty parts or follow the manufacturer’s instructions for troubleshooting |
Environmental Factors |
Protect from moisture and dust, ensure ventilation to prevent overheating, and relocate to a better location if needed. |
These are some of the probable reasons why your stabiliser is not working and their remedies. If it seems that the issue is serious, contact an electrician without any delay.

The first step is to check the circuit breaker or fuse. If the circuit breaker or fuse has tripped, reset it and see if the stabilizer begins to work properly. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you may need to check the wiring. Make sure all the connections are secure and that there are no loose or frayed wires.
If the stabilizer is still not working after checking the circuit breaker, wiring, and contacts, it may be necessary to replace the stabilizer. This can be a costly repair, but it may be necessary if the stabilizer is no longer functioning properly.
Contacts :The contacts inside the device may become corroded. If this is the case, the contacts will need to be cleaned or replaced. This is a task that should be done by a qualified technician, as it involves working with electrical components.
If you are unable to understand the problem with your AC system, it is always best to consult with a professional technician. They will have the knowledge and expertise about ac stabilizer repair to properly diagnose and repair any issues with your AC stabilizer, ensuring that your AC unit is running safely and efficiently.
